Physical Therapy Ultrasounds in Buffalo
Musculoskeletal injuries treatment by physical therapy ultrasound
Despite having the same name, this type of ultrasound is not the same as the one given to those who are pregnant. The ultrasound that our physical therapists utilize is a deep heating treatment for conditions like sprains, strains, tendonitis, and other musculoskeletal conditions. During a PT ultrasound, a wand is pressed gently against your skin near the site of the injury, and it moves in a small circular motion to help the ultrasound waves penetrate deep into the tissues that need it.
What Happens During an Ultrasound?
The way we use the ultrasound varies for each patient depending on their individual condition. If ultrasound is implemented to help treat your condition or injury, the doctors at BC + PT will walk you through the ins and outs of the procedure and what you can expect from the treatment.
Comfortable clothing is recommended to allow easier access for the physical therapist, who will apply a hypoallergenic gel on your skin to make the ultrasound wand glide easier, and conduct the waves into the tissues.
