When most people think of chiropractic, they assume that they need to have been in either an accident or have gone through something traumatic. However, chiropractic care is for everyone!
Chiropractors are specialists of the neck and spine, so even if you are experiencing just a little pain in your back from sitting at your desk all day, you can receive chiropractic care. Neck and back pain affects everyone, so making sure that you have the best set up when you are sitting at home or at work is important for your health. Here are some tips that we put together to help you feel your best!
The set up for success!
Proper posture can be hard, especially if you have no idea where to start. That’s where your BC + PT chiropractor comes in! When sitting at a desk, your feet should be flat on the floor, your elbows should be at a slight bend, and your shoulders should be relaxed. We recommend that the top of your computer screen is between 18 and 24 inches away from your eyes. To get a better visual of the position, as well as the different heights we recommend for standing desks, check out the Ergonomics page on the website!
Taking breaks
Even if you have an ergonomic desk and chair, your posture may not always be ideal. Many of us tend to wiggle and move about when we have been sitting in one place for too long. By trying to get up every hour or so to stretch your muscles, you give your body a break from being in one position and potentially cramping up.
Mini exercises
Taking breaks is a great way for both your body and mind to refocus and re-energize. Besides having a good set up and taking breaks to benefit both your body and mind, our last tip is to do some daily mini exercises. While the resources that we have on our website can be very helpful, it is still very important to remember that they should never be substituted for professional medical advice. Always seek advice with a qualified chiropractor or physical therapist for any questions you may have about your specific injury or condition.
